As we are expanding our museum we are hoping to extend our openings so please check our Facebook page Contact us for a private visit via Facebook messenger, or you may see our volunteers on site on passing. We are always happy to show you round. This year we have a new display of photos and stories of the Lenabo airship base which had its own railway branch. Officially it was RNAS Longside during World War 1. Airships from here escorted shipping in the North Sea to prevent submarine attacks, but better fighter aircraft soon made airships obsolete. They were slow and easy targets for enemy fighters. In our video room in the old 'Refresh' area of the station we show archive footage of the railways of northern Scotland and other items of interest. Have a seat here and look through our extensive book selection or watch the video. A new cafe has opened called Platform 5 just beside the station. There is great potential at the museum site to lay more railway track and
introduce new features. There are openings for volunteers to help with the work,
especially local people. You can contact us through Facebook, messenger or
e-mail. The next displays will be: A Wagon turntable from Consolidated Pneumatic, Fraserburgh; The Lamp Room in the bothy building; Flying Scotsman centenary; A signal display.
